Now I want you and your organization to realize the same benefits by becoming more familiar with Microsoft Access and recognizing its potential in your business.  If you are recording data on paper or in Excel, then get ready to change the way you do things for the better!  Check out our project portfolio to see how we’ve built some databases to suit the needs of other processes, but also think about the work you might be doing everyday that could be better recorded in Access.

At Kellerway, we aim first to educate our students and customers on the value that can be realized with a custom built Access database for very little investment.  We want to share the necessary skills to turn you into an Access expert.  This will allow you to manage your own system and make whatever customization changes you require.  This way, as your business or process changes, your database can change with it.

Still, we recognize that you might have a need that can’t wait for you to develop into an expert.  In that case, let us do the heavy work for you!  We’ll work with you to understand your goals and use our expertise to deliver a database solution.  Check out our Project Portfolio for some work we’ve done for satisfied clients!

Why Microsoft Access?

Microsoft Access is incredibly cost efficient in almost all areas, including development, implementation, and maintenance.  Unlike the larger database systems, there is no specialized hardware or expensive licensing required.  Chances are that if you are a Microsoft subscriber, that Access is already available to you.  Since you will own your database, you will be able to perform any maintenance yourself without a costly database administrator.  These are just some ways you can be sure you will get a measurable return with a minimal investment.

Since Access is easy to use and readily available, you will be able to start your project right away!  Forget waiting for large project teams to develop Gannt charts while your needs continue to go unmet.  After we collect your project specifications, we’ll be able to start building your database the same day.  You can expect to see impressive progress in just a few days.

By designing your own database, you are able to trim it down to only the elements you need.  This makes training your end users much easier because they won’t be distracted by superfluous functions that have no value.  You’ll also get to design forms and reports that align with your processes, rather than having to force fit your work to be compatible with a larger database system.

Once you start using your Access database, chances are you will want to expand it to include data from other parts of your organization.  No problem!  This can be done just as quickly as the original development effort and often without disrupting your work.  A good database is one that is able to grow with your business.

If you’re already using other applications to capture data, it’s quite likely that Access can connect to those systems to retrieve the information.  You’ll be able to query the data and run reports combined with the data you are collecting in your new Access database.  This allows you to continue leveraging the systems you have in place while realizing the benefit of your new database.

Still, you may eventually outgrow the capability of Access and need to move onto a large server-client database.  When this happens, you’ll be glad you were using Access to capture your data.  Your tables of master data can be used to make for an easy transition into a new system.  Microsoft Access is a fine intermediate step before taking the expensive jump into more complex systems.
